dc.description.abstract-translatedThe Bachelor´s thesis deals with a group of antibiotics, fluoroquinolones, particulary with one of the group representant, ciprofloxacin. The introductory part of the thesis summarises the properties of the antibiotics, their mode of action, fate (metabolism) in treated organisms and its relation to their occurence in wastewaters and consequently in natural surface waters. Advanced oxidation processes, i.e. techniques investigated in connection with emerging pollutants degradation, are introduced, and their results in ciprofloxacin degradation presented. The experimental part has been aimed at photochemical degradation of ciprofloxacin in aqueous solutions. Reaction systems with dissolved catalyst (ferric ions) as well as with a catalyst in a solid phase (immobilised TiO2) were studied. Chromatographic methods, namely HPLC and IC, were adopted for the measurement of degradation kinetics and products formation.eng
