Record of plea for Doctoral Dissertation Thesis Student's name: Doc. Dr. László HORVÁTH, MA. Supervisor: Doc. PhDr.Adéla Mojžíšová, Ph.D. Name of Dissertation Thesis: Social Help for Disabled Children and their Families Date of plea: 10.5.2010 Course of plea: 1. The student was introduced by the supervisor. 2. The student introduced his Dissertation thesis. The Thesis deals with social assistance to children with health handicaps and their families. The main goal of the Thesis was to ascertain to whom the care is provided and whether it is focused rather on families or institutions. The main tool of data collection was a questionnaire of own structure, divided into 3 parts. On the base of the results of the questionnaire investigation, the student drew up a proposal of training for professionals dealing with this issue. The student focused particularly on new methods of partner approach to families of such children. 3. The supervisor and the external examiners presented their opinions. Supervisor's question: "What is your opinion on respite care as social service for parents of disabled children?" External examiners' questions: "Is the number of children in families related to the social status of the families, in your opinion?" "Did you check the attitudes of both parents?" "What is the share of the parents in the care provided primarily by institution?" "What is the percentage of parents who decide to terminate pregnancy in case of positive prenatal diagnosis of inborn developmental defect?" 4. The student answered all questions. As he had known the questions, he had prepared his answers in his presentation. The supervisor and the external examiners were satisfied by the answers. 5. With regard to the extensive discussion, the commission did not have further questions. Evaluation: passed 6 passed - 0 not passed - 0 I abstaincze
